JUICING vs BLENDING: WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE?

In the juicing vs blending wars you need to pick your side. But before you do, get the lowdown on the benefits of each from the bloggers from Wellness in the City. In the end, you may just want to choose both.

“We are two very passionate individuals with a mutual appreciation for green juices, tight tushes and wheat grass bushes. While Marisa runs a lifestyle PR agency representing a range of international and local consumer brands, Nicole works as an international model, often traveling abroad while curating content for our WITC readers.”

JUICING

“With plenty of trendy juice bars popping up on every corner it’s hard not to be part of the cold-pressed revolution! As we’re big fans of anything freshly squeezed, you’ll find us enjoying a homemade ice cold fresh juice to accompany our breakfast binge and when feeling a little miff and in need of an immune boost, juicing all our greens and overdosing with ginger is so much easier when the consistency is smooth and pulp free!”

Key juicing benefits:

  • Removes insoluble fibre allowing for increased absorption
  • Easy way to consume your daily intake of fruit and veg
  • A quick dose of micronutrients
  • Faster and more efficient way to absorb natural nutrients
  • Optimize fibres and their digestive enzymes
  • Loaded with abundance of minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients
  • Helps with cravings and adopting healthier eating patterns for the day ahead

BLENDING

“We love the thick texture, pulp and creamy consistency that you can get from a blender! A good nutty chocolatey banana smoothie full of healthy fats is our fave before or after a sweaty session at the gym. Not only are they filling and full of flavour, they’re rich in nutrients and the perfect meal replacement when on the go!”

Key benefits of blending your ingredients together into a smoothie.

  • Retains all the fibre from your vegetables and fruit
  • Process breaks down fibres resulting in slow, even release of nutrients
  • Quick and easy to blend ingredients and generally easier to clean than juicers
  • More filling and can be a convenient substitute for breakfast or a quick snack on the go
  • Perfect technique to blend a healthy juice or even creamy dessert

Who are the faces behind Wellness in the City?

Nicole:

“Although wellness is at the core of my existence, I have a slight and uncontrollable addiction to sugar! I love to cook, bake and plate these creations perfectly, hence our insanely cool Instagram feed, but don’t be fooled by my petite physique, I can pack it away! I’m a typical Cancerian – never sure whether to laugh or cry. If I’m not striking a pose for work, you’ll find me surfing, dancing, travelling, munching, force-feeding friends, battling someone on the dance floor or photographing everything in sight.”

Marisa:

“I am a hyperactive half Italian, English and Afrikaans speaking, running and food obsessed Capetonian. Aside from running a PR agency by day and blogging by night, I’m a part-time endurance runner and mother (to the most ridiculously active puppy in town). When not chasing my tail at the office, I’m chasing trails in the mountain and trying out new fitness fads and stuffing face with my partner in wellness, mischief and epic adventures.”-Nicole 🙂
